Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide which can be found in the human body, mainly in the skin. One of its main features is the fact that it binds water, maintaining the right level of tissue hydration at the same time. Unfortunately, the number of hyaluronic acid molecules declines over the years. Wrinkle filling treatment consists in providing an alternative source of hyaluronic acid so that to re-establish satisfactory hydration of skin tissues, which is destroyed by skin creases promoted by facial expression.

Hyaluronic acid used for smoothing out our wrinkles is a synthetic preparation, which means that there is a smaller risk of allergies. Therefore, it is very convenient since it doesn’t require an earlier sensitization test.

Course of treatment

An hour before the procedure a numbing cream is applied on the treated area. Preparations for wrinkle filling with hyaluronic acid have a gel-like form, which after injecting under the skin not only smooths out a wrinkle, but also gives out a very natural effect. The preparation is applied into the skin with very thin needles, which reduces pain sensation. After injecting gel into a wrinkle line or lips, the preparation binds water and augments the volume of a given area, smoothing out wrinkles or modelling lip contours. The procedure generally lasts up to 30 minutes. The result can be seen right in the mirror. Procedure does not require giving up everyday habits.

Filling is used to remove nasolablial folds, wrinkles around the eyes, wrinkles between eyebrows, drooping mouth corners and face oval modelling.
The effects can be prolonged by next injections. The majority of patients decide to undergo the procedure after 6-12 months since the first procedure of wrinkle filling or facial contour correction. Whereas, lip augmentation requires filling after 6 months. After 9-12 months hyaluronic acid preparations gradually degrade on carbon dioxide and water and eventually are absorbed completely. At that point the treatment should be repeated, which from the one side can be regarded as a disadvantage, but on the other sides as a big advantage since the procedures are completely safe. Therefore, the patient can be guaranteed that the effect will wear off and will not cause a permanent change in the appearance of the face. The process is 100% reversible.
