Botulinum toxin - BOTOX
Botulinum toxin, popularly known as BOTOX, when injected in small amounts, it can effectively cause a certain blockade of muscles which are responsible for mimic wrinkles. It precludes the muscles from contracting and in this way prevents the skin from corrugating and folding. One of the characteristics of botulinum toxin is the fact that it works only on muscles which have been treated, whereas the remaining muscles work as usual.
After properly followed procedure with botulinum toxin facial expression remains unchanged, yet wrinkles disappear.
Anti-wrinkle therapy with BOTOX is used to treat especially mimic wrinkles, however, it can also be used for hyperhidrosis treatment. BOTOX starts to work after 2-3 days but it takes minimum 2 weeks to observe the full effect of the treatment.
